Painting calls me forth to the present moment and creates a sense of aliveness. I paint my interior landscape as well as my connection with Spirit. My pieces are a co-creation with Source, whatever that might mean to you you; Spirit, the Stars, God, Nature, Rapture.
Approaching each painting session as a ritual allows me to drop in and free my mind of excess clutter. What occurs next is the free flow of responding to each moment. Two to three canvases accompany me each time so I can flow between more than one piece without getting fixated on the chaos or beauty that arises. Each gester becomes an effortless dance that then leads me to the next move and then the next.
My current substraight is canvas and sometimes paper. I utilize acrylics, inks and water applied with brushes, palette knifes and other marking tools. I am also intrigued with mixing in recycled materials such as old books, packaging materials and even house paint upon occasion.
